Even if they were not composed for improvisation, many of Steve Reich’s compositions contain the same ideas exposed in this record. A recorded piano part plays an ostinato that is followed and expanded by another live piano. The final result is the construction of an harmonic chorus, underlined by the doublebass and supported by minimalistic drums insertions.

Pur non prevedendo improvvisazione, le opere di Steve Reich si caratterizzano per procedimenti compositivi
non lontani da quanto sopra esposto. Un pianoforte pre-registrato, che esegue un ostinato ritmico-armonico, viene integrato da un secondo suonato in tempo reale le cui note “espandono” armonicamente e ritmicamente quelle del primo. Il risultato è la costituzione di un giro armonico, sottolineato dall’ingresso del contrabbasso e messo in evidenza da un accompagnamento di batteria molto minimalista.
